Marine, I salute you
Went to amphitheater to see Pacific symphony. It was great.

They recognised the people in the military as well as their families at one point. The instructions were to stand up when the orchestra played your particular anthem as a part of a medley of anthems from all the services.  As they started with Over Hill Over Dale I turned to O and asked, "Which one is the Marine Anthem (so we could stand up for Eric).

He responded, "It's kind of a test you have to pass, to know the right anthem."

It's OK, we figured it out. It's From the Halls of Montezuma...

It's kind of sad. The guys who should be enjoying the fourth the most are the ones who find the fireworks to be a somber, even frightening reminder of the bomb blasts of war. I find I am less thrilled to listen to the loud explosions and see the glaring, too bright flares of the blasts since Eric's sojourn in Iraq. He stayed home this evening and vacuumed his sofa.

For some reason, this year during the finale the repetitive pops really made me think how scary that would sound if you knew it was from guns or bombs.

Because, actually, they ARE bombs.
